Pictures from our Cake Walk!

There were many more cakes, but we got busy before I could snap a picture!

Cake Balls

Red Velvet Cake Balls from www.bakerella.com

Our own Ms. Paplow baked beautiful tasty cake balls and donated them for the Cake Walk.  To make them, crumble cake into a big bowl, add canned frosting, roll the mixture into balls, dip in melted chocolate, let set, then eat!  Go to www.bakerella.com for the website devoted to cake balls and cake pops (cake on a stick - yum!).

What is a Cake Walk?

Melissa Sweet, a children's book author and illustrator, kindly gave permission to use her illustration. Please visit her charming website at  http://www.melissasweet.net/
A Cake Walk is a game similar to musical chairs that is often played at carnivals and fairs.  Numbered circles or squares are arranged in a circular path on the floor. Participants stand on a number and, when music begins to play, they walk around the circle until the music stops. A number is drawn from a fishbowl, and the person standing on the drawn number gets to choose a cake as a prize.

The WJPS Cake Walk is being held as part of the Family Game Night festivities on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 7 pm to 9 pm. The cakes for our cake walk are donated and don't have to be cakes at all - brownies, cookies, pies and cupcakes are delicious alternatives!

Whether home-made, store bought, or from a bakery, we appreciate your support of our Cake Walk! All donated goodies need to be sent in to the main office at school by the morning of Thursday, February 17, 2011, or you can bring them to school that evening.
